Now I'm sure everyone who has some Christianity knowledge knows who Judas Iscariot was - the man who betrayed Christ for 30 pieces of silver, the price of a slave. His name taken out from the ranks of the Apostles, forever cursed by Christians to be the greatest sinner of all time and hence, losing his halo in Christian arts forever.
In Divine Comedy, one of the best literature work by Dante, Judas was being administered the most horrifying torture of the three prominent traitors portrayed - his head in the mouth of Lucifer, and his back being forever skinned by the claws, with his blood mixed with Lucifer's tears in the most sickening perverted fashion.
But was Judas all evil? The Resurrection required the Crucifixion, and the Crucifixion required the Betrayal, he took a bad rap for playing the part God sets for him. So one disciple who "betrayed" Christ got to become the sinner while the others who watch the Master die and played saints?
Remember Peter? Who cursed and swear and denied he knew Jesus when the Master was in captivity and set for execution? He became the first pope... And what about the other apostles who knew about their Master's execution yet sat around and did nothing...
If you look into the bible, Judas was portrayed more and more evil with each Gospels. Luke never met Jesus or Judas, and the bible is filled with filtration and alteration caused by human agenda than divine intervention.Judas was the trusted treasurer of the group who held his office with dignity. Why didn't he run away with all the money but instead sell Christ out for ONLY 30 silvers? If he has followed Christ, he would have genuinely believe He was the Son of God. Who is the right mind would betray a divine being for money when he knows the result is eternal damnation?!
All these bullshits are made up by human's political agendas.
Another possibility is through the discovery of The Gospel of Judas. Blind Christian scholars argued that the earliest copy found was 30 years after Christ's death and hence it was not accurate. Yes that's the earliest printed copy found, but does that mean it was wasn't written earlier? And fuck it, they didn't even found printed copies of the other Gospels as "young" as 30 years after Christ! This Gospel portrays Jesus in a way which the other Gospels didn't. A cheerful Master who laughs a lot while other Gospels seem to portray him as a rather serious person. It also states Judas as Jesus' beloved disciple, and was asked to "betray" Him to fulfill the prophecy and hence the Crucifixion. On top of that, Judas was also somewhat ostracized by the other apostles, perhaps because he was the only one who wasn't a Galilean or perhaps because he understood Jesus' teaching more.
To me, I feel that is the Son of God walks amongst us, I do believe He will be a cheerful figure, who teaches with love and laughs with us. Not like the "I am God and all so serious" attitude.
I don't know if Judas did really commit suicide, but if he did, then it's either he couldn't take the pain of losing his Master, or he didn't have enough time to repent and shine like Peter.I am horribly sick of the Catholic Church telling people what is right and what is wrong. God made man with a conscience, that's where the essences of divinity came from. Should we look into our hearts and feel God from within, to be inspired by His Holy Spirit to do good? Or should we blindly listen to the pope, a man elected by men (not God) and kiss his "holy" ring and do his bidding?
Did Peter, Matthew, or Mark turned to people for inspiration? Or did they looked within and received divine inspiration?Just like all other Apostles, Judas deserved his rightful place as a saint. So give the man his rightful halo!
