Since young, I've always hate mooncakes due to the lotus paste they have inside. I don't particularly dislike lotus paste, but mooncakes just contain too much of them. The thought of having my taste bud being overwhelmed by the sheer sweetness, and my throat filled with the sheer gluey thickness, oh God, it makes me feel like I am swallowing cum.And modern mooncakes got a whole lot more innovative with lots of flavors to choose from. Common ones include yam, green tea, orange and durian. However they are literally only flavored lotus paste. Hence I decided to stay away from mooncakes altogether for a very long time.
Recently, I found this particular brand of durian mooncake, that is truly amazing. Anyway despite being a Taiwanese, I actually kinda like durians. The content of this mooncake is NOT flavored lotus paste, but literally, REAL durian meat!

Hey! I love Taipei! To me, Taiwan is the most perfect place. Because I can live in the mountains, I intend to retire there!
Btw, i think Raffles hotel got such mooncakes too! anoy you can try that out!
you should try kia hiang's durian mooncake, doesnt look nice but it taste awesome.
